What is Rush?
The term "RUSH" is often used as a more appealing substitute to the term New Membership Recruitment. It is important to remember that without new members a fraternity chapter will ultimately fail and dissolve, thus rendering new members the lifeblood of every fraternity. This is the sole reason why Rush is so important to each chapter on campus.
Rush refers to the primary membership recruitment drive that each fraternity participates in over the same period of time. During Rush, fraternities generally set up a calendar of events designed to attract students interested in what fraternity life has to offer. Prospective members have the chance to get to know as many fraternities as desired over Rush, and towards the end of the week they may or may not get a bid from each fraternity. Rush Week occurs early during the fall and spring semesters.
A bid is the general term to describe a formal invitation to pledge a fraternity.
The Kappa Phi Chapter of Kappa Sigma is characterized by enthusiasm, commitment, excellence in academics, community service and leadership on and off campus. Our strength lies in our diversity; no one label could ever capture the essence of Kappa Sigma.
Throughout day-to-day life, Kappa Sigma always has something to offer. On George Mason's campus alone, Kappa Sigma is active in our community. Our brothers also serve as members on other organizations: academic, social, and university support. We are also active within the Fairfax Community, supporting various community service project efforts and more.
As a pledge of Kappa Sigma, you will be embarking on a journey for life.
Being able to call oneself a Kappa Sigma is an irreplaceable opportunity. The Brotherhood will remain with you for life.
The only real way to get a feel for our brotherhood is to come out and meet the guys that make up Kappa Sigma. We look forward to meeting you.
